What Is A Queensland Sustainability Declaration / QSD ?
The SD is a Queensland government new initiative. It is a compulsory home checklist that must be completed by the seller (vendor) when selling a house, unit or townhouse and is required as part of the sale as of 1 January, 2010. It’s now the law.
The Sustainability Declaration will inform buyers about the sustainability features of a property and identify the home’s environmental and social sustainability features in four key areas:
- Energy
- Water
- Safety
- Access
More sustainability features in a home can increase the marketability of the property and can save money on lower operating costs, be more energy efficient and waterwise. These homes can use less energy for cooling and heating, they generate fewer greenhouse gas emissions, use less water and most importantly are more comfortable to live in. By taking some steps towards improving your home’s sustainability , the environmental, financial and social benefits can be recognised when the home is on the market for sale.
Sustainabile housing and living is now and for the future and an SD makes sense and helps reduce our personal carbon footprint by acting as an incentive to improve the sustainability performance of our homes right here in Queensland.
